Browns Open Training Camp; TE Ben Watson Leaves with Head Injury

The Cleveland Browns opened training camp on Saturday morning, much to the delight of fans everywhere, though I’m sure the players and coaches were glad to finally put the nightmare that was the lockout behind them.

Going into today’s practice, all but one of the team’s draft picks have been signed, the lone holdout being number-one pick Phil Taylor. The defensive tackle is expected to be in camp soon, as the new collective bargaining agreement certainly helps speed up the process.

Additionally, kicker Phil Dawson signed his franchise player tender, among a number of other team free agents. So far, offensive lineman Billy Yates is the only unrestricted free agent of the Browns that the team has re-signed.

One of the most notable things to come out of today’s practice is the apparent head injury to tight end Ben Watson, who left early after taking a knee to the back of the helmet. More information is sure to come, but the good news is that he was able to walk to the locker room under his own accord.
