Former Browns QB Derek Anderson to Sign with Carolina Panthers

Every Cleveland Browns fan likes to know what former quarterback Derek Anderson is up to, right? Well, get ready because you’re about to get some news on him whether you like it or not.

The polarizing quarterback is expected to sign with the Carolina Panthers and, hopefully, provide some veteran influence to the team’s crop of young quarterbacks that includes rookie Cam Newton, Jimmy Clausen, and Tony Pike.

While he isn’t exactly the best option for that job, he will be reunited with former Browns offensive coordinator Rod Chudzinksi, the man who helped propel him to his career year in 2007. In that season, Anderson passed for 3,787 yards for 29 touchdowns, though he only completed 56.5% of his passes.

Since that breakout season, Anderson’s career has gone into a downward spiral that blew up last season with a load of criticism directed at him for smiling on the bench during a Cardinals blowout. To be fair to Anderson, it was ridiculous how much people dissected that, though his subsequent tirade (as entertaining as it was) didn’t help put an end to any of the criticism.
