Cleveland Browns Awarded OL Oniel Cousins Off Waivers from Ravens

In a move that possibly signifies the end of left guard Eric Steinbach’s season, the Cleveland Browns were awarded offensive lineman Oniel Cousins off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens on Monday.

Cousins, 27, is going into his fourth season in the NFL and has experience at both the tackle and guard positions. He was the starting right tackle for the Ravens before being moved to right guard until, finally, he was demoted and released. Regardless of how he ended his time in Baltimore, he’ll provide some much needed depth along the offensive line.

A move like this could potentially mean that the Browns are planning to place Steinbach on injured reserve, who is considering surgery to fix a disc problem in his back. He has been out since August 17 and will miss significant time no matter what.
