With their loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers to close out the season, the Cleveland Browns solidified the fourth overall pick in April’s NFL Draft.

Now that this disappointing season is officially in the rearview mirror, fans can begin prognosticating about who the team will select with that high draft pick. One thing is for sure: it will be hard for the Browns to go wrong, as they will be drafting for a wide variety of positions.

A lot of names have already been thrown out there as potential draft picks, including:

  • Robert Griffin III – QB, Baylor
  • Trent Richardson – RB, Alabama
  • Justin Blackmon – WR, Oklahoma State
  • Quinton Coples – DE, North Carolina
  • Alshon Jeffery – WR, South Carolina

There is also the very real possibility that the Browns will trade the fourth overall pick to another team in order to acquire more picks in 2011 and for the future. A lot of teams are interested in a player like Robert Griffin III, including top-ten teams such as the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins, meaning a draft day trade is very likely.

Regardless of what happens, the build-up to the NFL Draft won’t be without drama. The Browns have a number of ways in which they could use the fourth overall pick, but there is one thing that we know for certain: it is imperative that the team finds playmakers in this draft, whether it be on offense or defense.
