You would think a player choosing his number would essentially be non-news (and, for the most part, this is), but the coincidence of this situation and the relative circus that has followed Colt McCoy makes this worth mentioning.
New wide receiver Josh Gordon wore No. 12 in his college days and, typically, a rookie will change his number if a team veteran already has it. The veteran who shares that number on the Browns just so happens to be the much-maligned McCoy, who has been the subject of constant trade speculation.
For now, Gordon has been given No. 86, but it’s only made people wonder how long he’ll have to stick with it. Gordon has pondered that himself:
