Pat Shurmur: “Good Chance” Ahytba Rubin and Phil Taylor Play Sunday

A win on Sunday and potential good news coming on Monday? It’s a rarity to find that in Cleveland, but Browns head coach Pat Shurmur said on Monday that there was a “good chance” that defensive tackles Ahtyba Rubin and Phil Taylor could return against the Baltimore Ravens this week.

Rubin has been dealing with a calf injury for the past few weeks, missing the Oct. 14 rematch with the Cincinnati Bengals and Sunday’s

win against the Chargers (he aggravated the injury in the first half against the Indianapolis Colts). Oddly, the Browns have won both games that Rubin has missed this season.

As for Taylor, he hasn’t played in a game this season as he still recovers from a pectoral injury he suffered in the offseason. Though he has been slow to return to practice, his potential return seems to be right on schedule with the original timeline.

Having both Rubin and Taylor back would be a great boost to the Browns’ defensive line. The Browns are looking to go into the bye week on a high note by taking on a decent Baltimore Ravens offense and injury-ravaged defense.

The Browns’ defense – a crutch for much of this season – is getting healthier by the day and could soon become a strength to complement a fast-improving offense.
