According to Browns RB Trent Richardson, QB Brandon Weeden “Had Trouble Reading Defenses”
Everyone seems to be ganging up on Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden these days. The latest person to knock him is his teammate, running back Trent Richardson. The NFL Network’s Steve Wyche said on Tuesday that Richardson “really does like Brandon Weeden,” but his ability to read defenses certainly left something to be desired last season.
"“He also told me a little bit more about Brandon Weeden,” Wyche told co-host Mark Kriegel. “He said as a rookie, [Weeden] really had trouble reading defenses from time to time and they had to skew their offense a little bit, sometimes somewhat predictable. [He] thinks things are going to open up a little bit, but he really does like Brandon Weeden.”"
This exchange came off-camera after Richardson did an interview for NFL AM, which certainly brings ethics into the equation. Should Wyche have said anything? It’s obviously significant when a player somewhat calls out a teammate like that, but one wonders how many thousands of times players have called each other out in private or off camera during an interview.
On camera, Richardson at least predicted that Weeden would be the starting quarterback in 2013.
