Browns Make Minor Trade in Attempt to Add Offensive Depth
The Browns made a small trade on Thursday, sending linebacker Emmanuel Acho (who spent the 2012 season on injured reserve) to the Eagles for 5-8, 190-pound running back Dion Lewis.
The Browns are apparently looking for some versatility on offense, but this move shouldn’t be greeted with anything more than
tempered expectations. After all, Acho was a sixth-round pick.
With Trent Richardson, Montario Hardesty and Chris Ogbonnaya already in the running back mix, one wouldn’t expect to see Lewis much, except maybe on special teams. In his career (dating back to 2011), Lewis has 36 carries for 171 yards and two touchdowns.
The Browns believe there is some untapped potential with Lewis, though, as head coach Rob Chudzinski praised him for his “quickness and vision.”
For the price they paid, it’s worth taking a chance on him.
