Class Action Suit Claims Browns Owner Jimmy Haslam Knew of Pilot Flying J’s Fraud

Another day, another accusation against Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and Pilot Flying J. The company, which is currently the subject of a federal investigation and numerous lawsuits, had another class action suit filed against it on Thursday.

Filed in federal court on behalf of Wright Transportation, the suit charges that Haslam knew about the bogus rebate program all along, and even gave his blessing to it. Of course, Haslam has denied any knowledge of what was going on at Pilot Flying J, but obviously, some (though it’s likely many) of those customers who were cheated aren’t buying it.

Haslam continues to deny any rumors that he will sell the Browns in the wake of this disaster, though not everyone believes that, either.

It’s hard to imagine Haslam selling the team; that would most certainly be a last resort. But the lawsuits are piling up with more venomous charges, and when people are accusing you of devising a “nationwide scheme to defraud and cheat” your customers, it’s never a good thing. As always, this situations looks far from being over.
