With Brian Hoyer’s injury, the Browns only have two quarterbacks on their roster.  They have discussed the position in meetings, but at this point have not made a move.  There was talk they could be interested in Josh Freeman, but those rumors were squashed and Freeman has since signed with the Minnesota Vikings.  Right now, should the Browns have injuries to both Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell, the emergency quarterback is… MarQueis Gray.

Gray was a quarterback at Minnesota, so this is the most obvious choice, but he is a rookie working to be a tight end/H-back for the Browns.  The Browns have a package where Gray would be the quarterback in a wildcat type look, but have used it sparingly to this point, which is good.  It remains to be seen if the Browns will sign another quarterback or if the options out there are all equally mediocre as to not bother using a roster spot on one.  Should Weeden or Campbell go down, they can obviously go out and sign one.  There were rumors that the Browns might be interested in free agent Tyler Thigpen.  Since Weeden has already missed time with one injury, it would not be a huge surprise if the Browns are ultimately forced to sign another one, even if for only a short amount of time.
