According to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN Chicago, the Cleveland Browns have signed quarterback Caleb Hanie.  The Browns had Hanie in for a tryout last week before ultimately signing Alex Tanney from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad.  In light of the concussion to Brandon Weeden this past week and the day to day status of Jason Campbell, the Browns opted to bring in another quarterback, but one that had more experience than Tanney.

Hanie is most notable for having to come into a playoff game for the Chicago Bears after Jay Cutler went down with an injury.  The Bears flashed some life in the game, prompting some attention for Hanie that ultimately did not go anywhere.  Hanie has spent times on a few other teams including the Baltimore Ravens.

It remains to be seen who will actually be the quarterback to start this week, but the Browns now have three options they can potentially use.  Campbell is likely the most ideal choice provided he passes through the concussion protocol, but that might not happen in time.  In which case, the Browns are choosing between Tanney and Hanie to go to play in Foxboro against the New England Patriots this weeke
