Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets Live Gameday Thread

The Cleveland Browns travel to NY to face the New York Jets in a game that is more about draft position than anything else.  The Jets come into the contest 6-8, riding the arm of rookie quarterback Geno Smith, who was thrust into the starting job early in his young career.  To say it has been an up and down year for him would be an understatement.  Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg believes in Geno and in an interview this week said he believes Smith has what it takes to be a very good quarterback in the NFL.  That’s a pretty bold statement after watching Smith play this year, however one thing Mornhinweg knows is quarterback talent, so we shall see.

On the other hand, you have your Cleveland Browns.  To say they are snake bitten is a major understatement.  In the past few weeks, it has been one last-minute loss after another.  Then throw a couple of games in where the defense couldn’t do anything more to secure a win for the team and it just didn’t materialize for the offense.  At this point in the season, wins would only be moral victories and now what this team needs, is draft position in May.  Winning two meaningless games in December will do nothing for the Browns in May when two draft slots could be the difference in snagging a franchise quarterback or not.

Well either way the outcome will be determined on the field in a few hours.

One major blow to the Browns today is the absence of tight end Jordan Cameron.  He is inactive today due to a concussion he suffered last week against the Bears.  This will make it a little tougher in the passing game for the Browns today.

Will the Browns put together a gutsy win on the road for pride, or will they come home 4-11 with one game left in yet another disappointing season for their fans….
