Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase is putting the idea of interviewing for the Cleveland Browns job and preumably every other head coaching job off until after the playoffs. There would be a space in time where he could interview during the team’s bye week as they prepare to host a divisional playoff game, but Gase is opting to focus entirely on the Broncos rather than worry about anything else.
The risk, one that Gase knows full well, is that teams may not wait for him and could opt to make their hires at head coaches while he is in the playoffs, especially if the Broncos make a serious run. Josh McDaniels did the same thing last year with the New England Patriots and missed that window of time. This might be Gase’s way of taking himself out of the head coaching pool without actually doing it.
