Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports came out and ended the speculation on the Cleveland Browns’ interest in Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops. LaCanfora, the guy most believe has the closest thing to a direct line to this coaching search with his relationship to general manager Mike Lombardi from their time at NFL Network, came out with a big statement on the situation.
Not only does he make it clear the Browns are not interested in Stoops, they never were, he also puts Stoops out there for basically trying to get himself out of Norman or hoping for a raise. There have been multiple examples of coaches using other jobs to get pay raises and LaCanfora is basically selling Stoops out on that end.
For Stoops, he does have the Sugar Bowl victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide to argue for a raise. Still, strong language from LaCanfora on the subject.
