FootballScoop covers coaching jobs, usually focusing on college and even high school, but they do also delve into the NFL. In a question asked about the possibility of James Franklin of Vanderbilt or Gus Malzahn from Auburn coming to coach, they dismissed it entirely. They believe it is Josh McDaniels’ job, once the Cleveland Browns are able to offer him the job, which is after their playoff run has concluded.
There are more than a few people who believe that while the Browns could not officially offer McDaniels the job when they interviewed him Saturday, they basically came to a handshake agreement on the job. That remains to be seen and the Browns are still working around to different candidates, but the one name that has been there from the start is McDaniels. Until the New England Patriots lose, it would certainly be good for the Browns to talk to different candidates and see if anyone surprises them on how good they might fit the team.
