The New York Giants have hired Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo to be their offensive coordinator. McAdoo had been interviewed for the head coaching vacancy of the Cleveland Browns. This move is more surprising in the sense that most expected that McAdoo would end up with the Miami Dolphins with Josh Philbin, who had been the offensive coordinator of the Packers before he became head coach of the Dolphins.
Instead, McAdoo teams up with Tom Coughlin to replace the retiring Kevin Gilbride, who had guided the Giants to a pair of Super Bowls. McAdoo is now tasked with trying to get Eli Manning to rebound after a brutal season in terms of turnovers.
Meanwhile this eliminates the second candidate in the search for the head coach just today. McAdoo was interviewed as was Todd Bowles, the defensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals, who took himself out of consideration.
