Browns may be interested in Raiders quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo per Albert Breer
By Peter Smith
According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the Cleveland Browns have shown interest and may target Oakland Raiders quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo for their offensive coordinator position under Mike Pettine. DeFilippo has been the Raiders quarterbacks coach for the past two seasons in what is actually his second stint in that position with the team. He was also the Raiders quarterbacks coach in 2007 and 2008 under Lane Kiffin.
DeFelippo, a Youngstown native, worked as an assistant with the San Jose State Spartans and the assistant quarterbacks coach with the New York Jets in between the two stints. He was the offensive coordinator for San Jose State in 2011.
Originally a quarterback at Fordham, DeFilippo was a graduate assistant with Notre Dame under both Bob Davie and Tyrone Willingham. He worked as a quality control coach for the New York Giants with Tom Coughlin before being hired by the Raiders. DeFilippo is 36 years old, which would fit the way this staff has been going under Pettine.
