The Cleveland Browns, in their effort to do their due diligence are attending a private workout for Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron. The former signal caller for the Crimson Tide has done quite a bit of winning in his collegiate career including two national championships. They also plan to have McCarron come to Cleveland next week for one of their visits.
It is difficult to fathom that McCarron would be up for any consideration beyond a third day pick, but there are some teams that seem to be higher on McCarron than that. He still has no business going earlier than round 3, even if a team loves him, because he is an extremely average passer that is suited to play in a turnkey offense, much like Andy Dalton has been with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns have not dismissed the idea of taking two quarterbacks in this draft and if that is a serious consideration, McCarron would fit the mold for being the second of those two quarterbacks.
