The Browns moved up from the 26th pick in the draft to the 22nd pick using the 83rd pick to make a deal to swap with the Philadelphia Eagles to select Johnny Manziel, quarterback from Texas A&M. After grabbing Justin Gilbert, the Browns finally made the decision on their quarterback by grabbing Manziel.
Good, bad, or ugly, he brings a bunch of things that don’t actually help the Browns win any games in the short term. He brings excitement and buzz. It remains to be seen if he can deliver on everything he can actually has been built up to be. Analysts will love the pick and the local media could not be more thrilled.
The Browns used the 22nd pick on Brady Quinn in 2007 and the 22nd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft on Brandon Weeden. Will the third time be a charm in 2014 with Ray Farmer making the selection. Farmer and Mike Pettine have made their play at the quarterback position. How they approach using him in terms of when and how will be extremely interesting to watch.
