Roster Moves: Offensive Lineman Likely to Practice Squad
The Cleveland Browns have not made their roster moves official yet but we continue to get news. Donald Hawkins, a player that we took a wild card shot in the dark would make the 53 man roster, is reportedly going to the Browns practice squad:
Players who are waived from the roster have to clear waivers first before they can be put on the PS. Hawkins was recently waived by the Philadelphia Eagles and claimed by the Browns. There is a big difference between claiming a player when the rosters are huge and claiming one once they are down to 53 men. Hawkins is likely to make it through waivers.

Hawkins is one of 4 offensive linemen that the Browns have claimed in the past month. He played well at Texas but needs time to develop in the NFL. The practice squad could be a great start for him as he acclimates his game.
The Browns have made it clear that the offensive line is a problem. Beyond the starting 5, and even there Mitchell Schwartz has struggled, the Browns have looked putrid during pre-season. Expect the team to continue to try to address this need through waivers or free agency of players cut.
A team can take Hawkins off the Browns practice squad at anytime as long as they promote him to the 53 man roster for at least 3 weeks. The Browns will likely cycle through some practice squad players as well this season.
