Report: Ryan Seymour Claimed by Browns
Looks like the Cleveland Browns are going to be making some roster moves today, as expected. Ian Rapoport is reporting that the team has claimed offensive tackle Ryan Seymour off waivers from the 49ers:
Seymour, as Rapoport says, also spent time with the Seahawks. The Browns seem bent on bringing in players from successful programs, especially Seattle. Seymour joins Michael Bowie as offensive lineman claimed from the NFC West juggernauts.

Seymour is a 6’4″ tackle out of Vanderbilt. He was drafted in the 7th round of the 2013 NFL draft by Seattle. He was placed on the Seahawks practice squad out of camp before being signed by the Niners to a 3 year contract in December. He was one of many players that the two division rivals signed from each other throughout the last couple of seasons.
Seymour for his part is a veratile lineman who played both guard spots and tackle in college. He is considered a good fit in zone blocking scheme with his good feet, arm length and hand size. Some struggles with strength at the point of attack but has improved during his time at the NFL. Has good football IQ.
Likely this is a “see what you got” kind of pickup. The Browns have scoured the waiver wire for line help all camp and will likely do so a few more times. Seymour could latch on or go in the scrap heap in a few games. Either way Ray Farmer and Mike Pettine are serious about upgrading this unit.
Do you think the line is that bad to deserve all this attention so far?
