ESPN Power Rankings: Browns Barely Rise After Big Comeback

The Cleveland Browns evened their record to 2 – 2 with a historic road comeback against the lowly Tennessee Titans Sunday. While the win helped in the standings it didn’t have a big impact on ESPN Power Rankings (New Window).

The Browns were ranked 25th last week. Following a win to even things out the Browns were bound to rise but how far was the question:

"23Browns2-2Last Week: 25Cleveland’s 25-point comeback against the Titans tied for the third-largest comeback win in regular-season history. Hoyer doesn’t appear ready to give up the job anytime soon."

Two. The answer is two spots.

The Browns leaped over the idle Miami Dolphins, who dropped two spots, from 22 to 24, and the Vikings who lost badly on Thursday Night but only dropped one spot. Those two teams are the only teams with two wins lower than the Browns in ESPN Power Rankings.

Four 2 win teams sit directly above the Browns: Bears, Falcons, Saints and Chiefs, the same Saints team that the Browns beat in Week 2.

Next week’s opponent Pittsburgh Steelers are ranked at 16 while the Ravens are at 12 and the Bengals are at 5th after their first loss.

Even if the Browns win this week over the Steelers expect them to stay as one of the lowest three win teams as well. The Steelers are not highly respected, even with their three wins, and the Browns other two wins are against sub .500 teams in New Orleans and Tennessee.

What do you think of the Browns new ranking?
