Browns Vs Steelers: Behind Enemy Lines

facebooktwitterreddit

The Cleveland Browns take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in what may be one of the biggest games for the home team. The Browns can put a stamp on the early season with a victory here. A 3 – 2 record and a win over a rival would help define the new regime. Browns Vs Steelers is a big one.

Yet the Steelers have made it their habit to not allow the Browns over any sort of hump. Ben Roethlisberger and company have kept them from experiencing the type of success that the fans are in desperate need of. To be fair the Browns also have done a great job of keeping themselves from success as well.

This morning we go Behind Enemy Lines with our FanSided Steelers NFL site Nice Pick, Cowher and their editor. Check out my answers to their questions here as well.

1) The Steelers lost to the one win Bucs and struggled with the winless Jags, what is the biggest issue that you have seen?

The Steelers didn’t necessarily struggle against the Jags, but they definitely didn’t dominate as they were expected to. The biggest issue is the inconsistency. Can’t look any further than the first game we played against the Browns. Came out in the first half and dominated only to come out in the second half and almost blow it. The red zone offense has to improve but more importantly the team still has no identity after five weeks of football and that’s because of their inconsistency.

2) How would fans react to a loss to the Browns this week?

Steelers fans react badly to any loss. Hell, most fans were treating last week’s win over Jax as if it was a loss because it wasn’t a blow-out win. We’re kind of dramatic like that. A loss to the Browns would have a ton of people calling out of work on Monday morning.

3) How hot is the seat under Mike Tomlin?

It’s not hot at all. He’s a good coach and he’s got the full support of the ownership and front office as well as the locker room. The man has not had a losing season in his career. There are some fans and local media who think Tomlin is to blame for anything and everything but, have I mentioned we’re dramatic at times?

4) What injury is most concerning for the Steelers tomorrow?

The injury news this week is actually good. Ryan Shazier returned to limited participation in practice although he wasn’t able to be ready for this week he’ll have an extra day of preparation for our Monday night game next week. Safety Shamarko Thomas won’t be able to go either with a hamstring injury and it will be interesting to see if that means either rookie WR Martavis Bryant or NT Daniel McCllers will get activated on Sunday.

5) What is your prediction for the game?

I think the Steelers offense can do what they need to do to exploit the Browns defense both on the ground and in the air. I think the Steelers defense builds upon their defensive win next week and becomes the first team to really get after Brian Hoyer. But I still think this game comes down to the final minutes.
