Two Browns Return to Practice After Missing Games

The Cleveland Browns returned to practice after their beat down at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Just in time to take on the also winless Oakland Raiders.

The Browns may be more healthy this week with two players returning to practice, both from the defense:

Rubin is not the same player that he was when he signed his current contract but he is a big, active body that will be needed upfront for a Raiders team that likes to run the ball. After one week on the active roster the Browns cut defensive lineman Jaccobi McDaniel, likely assuming Rubin would be healthy.

  • Williams has been a big surprise in the secondary, a secondary that has struggled. Williams was getting more snaps than first round rookie Justin Gilbert. His concussion caused him to miss last week’s game. Unlike Rubin, who could still be hobbled a bit, Williams is likely full go from his injury. The concussion protocol wouldn’t allow him on the field if not.

The Browns will have to find a way to stop the Oakland run game as well as the play action passing. The return of Rubin and Williams will help do that.

Unfortunately neither does anything to help replace Alex Mack. Whether the Browns can find a solution not named Paul McQuistan is a different discussion.

Who do you think will have a greater impact on today’s game?
