2015 NFL Mock Draft: Matt Miller’s Two Rounder
The Cleveland Browns are still squarely in the thick of the AFC North title race as well as the AFC Wild Card tussle. The Buffalo Bills, who owe their first and fourth round picks to the Browns, are also very competitive this season. Nationally these two teams both competing this season is a surprise. As we take a quick peak forward, with a 2015 NFL Mock Draft, how they perform plays a key role in what position the Browns are drafting in next season.
Matt Miller of Bleacher Report graces us with a Two Round 2015 NFL Mock Draft for us to dissect. His draft order is based on current standings:
15. Cleveland Browns
"The Pick: WR Devin Funchess, MichiganThe Cleveland Browns—and specifically offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan—deserve credit for getting production out of a wide receiver corps that seriously lacks talent with Josh Gordon suspended. But looking ahead to 2015, assuming Gordon is able to stay on the field, what’s the biggest need for this team? It’s still at wide receiver. The best receiver on the board after Amari Cooper is Michigan’s Devin Funchess. Fans may be confused because Funchess played tight end until his senior season, but he was always viewed as a Jimmy Graham-type tight end who would transition to wideout in the NFL. His big body, ability to high-point the ball and strong hands will remind fans of Kelvin Benjamin or Alshon Jeffery."
- A very popular pick for the Browns is the wide receiver position. Funchess will be an interesting prospect to watch. Will he be given as much love as Mike Evans was a big receiver or will he fall based on speed issues like Alshon Jefffery? The Browns refused to use their first rounder on a wide receiver in the previous draft, although they have said they would have drafted Sammy Watkins if the Bills didn’t make their offer, would they draft one now?

25. Cleveland Browns (from the Buffalo Bills)
"The Pick: DT Danny Shelton, WashingtonThe Buffalo Bills traded their 2015 first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns to move up in the 2014 draft to secure wide receiver Sammy Watkins. So far, that trade is working out well for Buffalo, and the Browns are happy to have two first-round picks for a second straight season.Ahtyba Rubin has been a weak link for the Cleveland defense line, and Shelton has the skill set to step into that role from Day 1 and make an impact. As a nose tackle, Shelton can impact the game with this strength and athleticism, giving the Browns another solid young defender with which to build."
- Considered possibly the biggest area of need from those who watch the team is upfront. Rubin and Phil Taylor have disappointed so drafting a player who can play the nose is vital. Some believe the Browns could double up and draft two defensive linemen or a lineman for each side of the ball. Either way it is likely that the Browns go defense with at least one of their two first round picks. The player Miller has going next, Michael Bennett, is someone I think Mike Pettine would love as a 3-4 defensive end.

Second Round
"15ClevelandMario EdwardsDE Florida St."
- Miller indeed has the Browns doubling up on their defensive line, just a bit later in the second round. The junior Edwards is 6’3″ and almost 300 pounds. For the Browns he is perfectly sized for the defensive end spot. Fans are likely to want more offensive firepower but with the Kyle Shanahan system adding Funchess to Gordon should be enough. The Browns could look for another inside linebacker or offensive lineman early in the draft as well.
