Report: Arian Foster Misses Practices

The Cleveland Browns take on the Houston Texans at home this Sunday. Much talk is about J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney on defense but Arian Foster is the big time threat on offense. News today is that the Texans could be without their star running back on Sunday. He missed practice again today:

It would be huge if he is not able to go and yes you read that right it says AGAIN because Foster has missed the last two practices:

Groin injuries, like hamstrings, can be very delicate. That he has missed two straight practices means it has likely tightened up on him and they are being cautious. They would want something worse to happen by him trying to practice or play when it is tight.

Sunday’s game is expected to be very cold and snowy. Those are two things that can cause problems for tight muscles, tendons and ligaments. That Houston has to fly to Cleveland and play in the cold also plays in the Browns favor.

Foster is integral in the success of the Texans offense. He is both a solid runner and catcher of the football. In the Bill O’Brien system play action passing is a key component, with Foster out the Browns will not have to be as worried about the fake. Bad news for first time starter Ryan Mallett.

Foster pulled is groin 2 weeks ago and it is still tender. While this game is important for the Texans they can’t risk getting him hurt again. He will likely be a game time decision.

Without Foster the Texans will have rookie Alfred Blue and 2nd year man Jonathan Grimes to share the load. Blue has been somewhat productive in his limited role this season, 68 carries for 234 yards. He was drafted by the Texans in the 6th round.

For the Browns any help against the run game would be great. They haven’t done a great job against backups or starters but Foster to Blue is a trade off they will take all day long. After having many Bengals starters miss last week, Foster being out would be another huge break for the Browns.

How big would it be if Arian Foster misses Sunday’s game?
