Browns Depth Chart Reshuffled Greatly
The Cleveland Browns Depth Chart has been reshuffled over the past few days. It doesn’t look even close to the one we started the year with and shows just how much injuries have decemated the defense:
(A bigger version is at the bottom of this post)
Here are a few things that are new and takeaways from the depth chart:
- Isaiah Crowell is officially listed as the starter
- Ben Tate is officially off the roster.
- Josh Gordon is listed as the last wide receiver on the depth chart.
- The Browns have 0 backup defensive ends listed behind Desmond Bryant and Billy Winn.
- As expected Jabaal Sheard, Karlos Dansby and Jordan Cameron are all noted as hurt, and at the back of their positions depth chart.
- Jordan Poyer is listed as the Browns punt returner even though Travis Benjamin handled the duties on Sunday.
- Tank Carder is the only healthy backup ILB.
- Eric Martin and recently called up Keith Pough are the only healthy backup OLBs.
- Craig Robertson and Christian Kirksey are now listed as the starting ILB. Mike Pettine said Robertson would call the defense while Dansby is hurt.
- The Browns have a roster exemption for Josh Gordon this week.
- The Browns may have to cut a tight end and/or wide receiver to get more depth on the defensive front 7.

Adding Gordon to the roster is a nice addition. It is off-set by all the injuries on the defensive side of the ball. Releasing Tate opens up a roster spot but Gordon’s roster exemption ends this week so the Browns will likely do some shuffling. Marlon Moore, Rodney Smith and Ryan Taylor all could be in danger of losing roster spots.
