NFL Draft: Browns Drafting 12th and 19th
The Cleveland Browns season is officially over and we turn to the NFL Draft. The Browns are the only team with two picks in the first round and, based on some results that hurt the team and some that helped, the Browns will be drafting 12th and 19th in the first round:
That starts the process of preparing for who might fall into those spots and getting an idea of what type of trade value those spots have. 12 is worth 1,200 points based on the conventional NFL Draft Trade Chart and 19 is worth 875. For perspective the first pick is worth 3,000, #2 is worth 2,600, #3 is 2,200, #4 1,800 and #5 is worth 1,700.
Last year the 12th pick was Odell Beckham Jr. and the 19th selection was Ja’Wuan James, the hulking tackle out of Tennessee.
The Browns have needs all over the field. Some believe the team will want to address their quarterback position which could be tough with only 2 QBs expected to be “franchise” caliber. They have needs on the defensive line, especially at the nose, and the offensive line, a right tackle that could relieve Joe Thomas down the road would be nice.

With Josh Gordon‘s future in question, the Browns likely need to add some top flight talent at the receiver position as well. Tight end, middle linebacker and strong safety should also get some attention.
The good news is that the Browns also have money to address needs in free agency before the draft. The Browns could address a number of needs to try to help the process of changing the team’s culture. Adding a few players at the needed draft positions, as well as a veteran running back, would free the team up to draft the best players on their board.
Last year’s draft, the first for Ray Farmer, has given mixed results so far. The first rounders, Johnny Manziel and Justin Gilbert, have presented loads of concerns, while the rest of the draft is looking very strong. Undrafted players Taylor Gabriel and K’Waun Williams also help the rookie class look good.
