Report: Kyle Shanahan Being Let Go By Browns

The drama around the Cleveland Browns organization could be coming to a head this morning as a report is out that the team is parting ways with Kyle Shanahan after one year as the team’s offensive coordinator:

Shanahan seems to be the leak that has provided information to local reporter Mary Kay Cabot in the last week about how things went with the coaching staff and front office last year:

"Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan will consider leaving Cleveland — even for a lateral move — because of friction between some of the coaches and some in the front office, multiple league sources have told cleveland.com."

More information in that post seemed to come from a coaching source and with Shanahan’s reported disinterest in continuing with the team it is possible that he is the source:

"The biggest problem, they say is that the personnel side and coaches aren’t seeing eye to eye on some key issues. One source said some coaches became upset when a high-ranking personnel member texted from the press box to the sidelines about play calls."

Now it looks like the Browns have decided that to part ways. Cabot just added to the incoming information with this tweet:

Interesting that Haslam was a part of the decision as Head Coach Mike Pettine is the one who hired the staff and is responsible to answer to Haslam in the new organizational chart that the owner created last off-season.

Quarterbacks coach, and Johnny Manziel supporter, Dowell Loggains is also on his way out the door:

He and Manziel never got to “Wreck the League” together but both of them seemed to have impacted some wreckage on the Browns as well as their own careers. Update: It seems Shanahan was allowed to leave while Loggains was fired:

While this is going to be another sign that the negative narrative of is still alive and well in Cleveland, this seems to be a lot about Shanahan and less about the Browns. Kyle ran a good offense but was, for the first time, working outside of his dad, Mike Shanahan, or his dad’s tree, Gary Kubiak in Houston.

Shanahan didn’t like how things were done, possibly ran his mouth and complained his way out of Cleveland. The Browns not only want players who “Play Like a Brown” but want people in the organization that want to be in the organization.

Shanahan is expected to interview for the Bills Head Coaching position today, this can’t help his cause there.

What do you think about the Browns letting go of Kyle Shanahan?
