NFL Mock Draft: Luke’s 4 Rd. Mock Great for Browns

facebooktwitterreddit

With the Super Bowl just days away the Cleveland Browns faithful are ready to enjoy all the NFL Mock Draft information they can. We have quite a few great people who we follow that do a great job of providing draft information. One such person is Luke Easterling, @LukeEasterling on Twitter. Luke provides work for both Bleacher Report and Draft Breakdown.

Late last night Luke provided us with his 4 Round NFL Mock Draft, one that should make Browns fans very happy. So let us take a look:

"12. Cleveland Browns – Kevin White, WR, West Virginia – Another looming suspension for Josh Gordon has made Cleveland’s need for a top young receiver painfully evident, and tight end Jordan Cameron possibly hitting free agency doesn’t help, either. White has the size/speed/hands combo teams are looking for in a No. 1 receiver, and he’d be a no-brainer at this pick."

White is a receiver that some have at the top of their wide receiver rankings. While Amari Cooper is considered by most at the top of the list but Luke has him going #4. White has the skills to dominate the league as he did at West Virginia, even though it was only for one season, and the Browns sure could use some of that. Others have DeVante Parker ahead of White and Luke has him going 14th to the Dolphins. Either way the Browns got their receiver upgrade.

"19. Cleveland Browns (from BUF) – Danny Shelton, DT, Washington – With the need at receiver taken care of earlier in the round, the Browns should shift their focus to the defensive line.  Shelton backed up his film with a strong week at the Senior Bowl, and would be a massive centerpiece to an already stout defense."

Long time DPD readers know that we love seeing this name here. Shelton’s post-season work so far could quickly have him rising up draft boards. Many do not believe he will be here come draft day, many don’t believe he will even make it to #12. GM Ray Farmer will likely draft based on grades and not on need. That could lead him to picking Shelton at 12 to be sure he doesn’t get stolen by the Saints, Texans or Chargers who could use interior line upgrades, the other teams between 12 and 19 could all use Shelton as well. Farmer may not be able to risk that.

"44. Cleveland Browns – Ty Sambrailo, OT, Colorado State"

Last year most analysts, and fans, last season seemed to clearly to believe the Browns would draft QB, CB and WR in some order with their first 3 picks. This year the belief is that the first 3 picks will be NT, OT and WR. With Easterling’s NFL Mock Draft those three positions get filled. Sambrailo is not as well known as some of the other offensive tackles in this year’s draft but, like Joel Bitonio last year, could find himself as the Browns 2nd round pick. The 6’5″ 315 pound lineman can play both inside and out giving the Browns some options moving forward.

"76. Cleveland Browns – Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State"

More from Dawg Pound Daily

Luke looks to make friends with Browns fans by adding another receiver here. Lockett is a different kind of receiver than White. He is a speedster who will likely run under a 4.4 at the Combine. He is a smaller receiver, adding to Andrew Hawkins and Taylor Gabriel as under 6′ receivers on the Browns. With the addition of White and Lockett the Browns give themselves a good variety of young pass catchers. A tight end, along with re-signing Miles Austin, could complete the Browns receiving corp.

"108. Cleveland Browns – Xavier Cooper, DL, Washington State"

Cooper is a very young player, who may have left college a bit early, falling to the 4th round here in Luke’s NFL Mock Draft. Cooper would likely play the 5 technique, defensive end, for the Browns. With a young Cooper joining Shelton on the Browns line, the run defense should be significantly upgraded.

"115. Cleveland Browns (from BUF) – Max Valles, EDGE, Virginia"

Luke might of lost some Browns fans here, drafting 3 defensive players in the first 4 rounds will upset some Browns fans. Valles will help the Browns rush defense from an outside linebacker spot. The 6’5″ 240 pound Virginia Cavalier needs to bulk up some but will also help the Browns on special teams.
