Devin Funchess. 19. player. 53. . Wide Receiver. Wolverines

With the 19th pick in the NFL Draft the Browns could/should have some interesting options at the wide receiver position. We selected Devin Funchess for a number of reasons, even though he played for that school up north. For Mariota having big targets, with large catch radius’s, will be big for his development.

Funchess will play wide receiver at the next level, even though some think about him as a tight end. He played with terrible QB play in college and will take some time getting used to not getting setup over the middle by terrible passes. He has great size, 6’5″ 230 pounds, and good enough speed on the outside. With burners like Gabriel and, too a lesser extent Parker, on the outside and Hawkins running his crisp routes from the slot, Funchess provides the needed size/speed combo that is missing for the Browns. He also catches the ball with his hands, not his body, something many young receivers struggle with. Funchess would play the big slot receiver role if the NFL Draft goes this way.

Funchess still has some development in his route running that will help take him to the next level. Joker Philips, unlike our previous WR coach who was with Josh Gordon when he was drinking, has shown an ability to help discipline receivers. The new and improved coaching staff, at least from our perspective, is huge for the Browns young players.

Want to see what kind of athlete Funchess is? Here you go:

player. 53. . Offensive Line. Florida State. Cameron Erving. 43

Cameron Erving finishes off the Browns offensive Two Round NFL Mock Draft. Erving played left tackle for most of his college career, he actually was expected to come out last year and be a pick in the first 2 Rounds. Then his Seminoles team needed him to move inside and play center. He selflessly did and improved his versatility.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

The 6’6″ Erving has the ability to play any position on the offensive line at the next level. For the Browns he gives him a good to great right guard or tackle, depending on what the team wants to do with Schwartz or Michael Bowie. He also gives the Browns a player that can take over if Alex Mack gets injured or decides to opt out of his contract after this season.

With Erving, Parker and Funchess the Browns have increased his size and skill level on the offense. Brian Hoyer, Johnny Manziel, Connor Shaw or whoever is behind center would have added a few weapons as well as more protection on the offensive line.

The Browns will still have 7 picks to find a tight end and to improve their defense, which has needs up the middle. This NFL Mock Draft however would quickly upgrade the offense, as long as a QB can play decently.

What do you think of this NFL Mock Draft that addresses the Browns offense in the 1st two rounds?
