Trent Cole Tweets About Visit to Browns, Home to Ohio
Trent Cole is a free agent that the Cleveland Browns obviously have interest in. Since he was released by the Philadelphia Eagles, he is free to visit with other teams. The Browns have Cole in the building today and tomorrow before he goes off visiting the Indianapolis Colts. How do we know the details? He tweeted about it:
A few pieces out of that. First, while many know that Cole went to the University of Cincinnati he is also from Ohio. A little town southeast of Dayton, Ohio. Working in Xenia for 6 years, Cole is known to value his family very much and it could play a role in his decision. The trip from Xenia to Cleveland is a similar distance as the trip to Indianapolis though, so the Browns may not have an advantage there.
Generally in free agency, whichever team gets the first visit wins. With the rest of the NFL Free Agent class able to sign contracts tomorrow, Cole likely will want to make a decision pretty quickly. If the Browns can impress him, and offer him the right money, in his two day visit then he may not even get on the plane to Indy.

Obviously the Colts are closer to contending, Andrew Luck will do that for you, and the Colts and Browns run similar schemes, both rooted in the Baltimore Ravens defense of the past. The Colts have been mentioned with a number of free agents, some on the higher side, which could lead them to slow play with Cole.
The Browns have interest in Cole along with Jerry Hughes for their pass rusher position. It is currently expected that Hughes will return to Buffalo. That would leave Cole as a cheaper, albeit older, consolation prize. Some might even say he is a better bet to produce, given his long standing history, than Hughes. Others are worried about Cole’s age but his production has been steady for years.
What do you think of Trent Cole possibly returning to his home state of Ohio with the Cleveland Browns?
