Browns Out of Darrelle Revis Sweepstakes Per Multiple Reports

The Cleveland Browns were reportedly interested in Darrelle Revis this morning but according to multiple reports, first by Lane Adkins, that ship has sailed. Adkins gives us some of the reasons behind that as well:

So we have learned that Jimmy Haslam is not stopping the team from spending money, that money isn’t Revis’ #1 priority (most believe it has been his whole career) and that the Browns tried but no luck.

That the Browns are out has since been repeated by two other Browns reporters:

So, unless something changes in the next hour and a half the dream of Revis and Joe Haden across from each other also dies. Revis wanting to win would likely lead him back to the New England Patriots. His desire for money and his comfort with the New York Jets could lead him to return there.

Things can change quickly in the NFL. 24 hours ago Frank Gore was going to be an Eagle. Today he is a Colt. We don’t expect Revis to change his mind but the fact that the Browns were in on him and he at least was willing to have that brief conversation is a good sign of where things are going.

On to hopefully helping the Browns biggest needs in their front 7  of their defense and either a wide receiver or tight end.

Were you overly excited about Darrelle Revis coming to Cleveland or did you stay doubting?
