Browns Sign Cecil Shorts

We covered this yesterday but, even with the Hartline signing, the Browns are still in on Shorts. He would provide the team with a decent #1 option, especially in a run first offense. Shorts is also a Cleveland area native, which continues a theme of coming home, Donte Whitner and Hartline are other examples. Shorts has mentioned he wants to win but with the Browns defense (more in a minute), running game and off-season additions we think he will be lured home.

For the Browns Shorts will start on the outside and provide the team with a veteran combination of Hartline, Shorts and Andrew Hawkins. That 3 some, while not overpowering, will be more than able to help carry the team. Taylor Gabriel and a rookie, still possible in the first three rounds, would round out a very steady, talented group.

Contract – Either 1 year, $6.5 million or 3 years, $15 million
