Trent Cole Chooses Colts; Or Did He?

According to Ian Rapoport Trent Cole, who the Cleveland Browns visited with for two days, has chosen the Indianapolis Colts:

It makes sense as Cole is looking to compete for a championship as his career starts to hit the downside and the Colts have Andrew Luck. Cole, along with Frank Gore and possibly Andre Johnson would be huge veteran pickups for the team. Cole’s visit with the Browns reportedly went well but the team was unable to reel him in as they would hoped. There are still more options on the market but it seems the Browns really liked the veteran. RapSheet says he going to Indy and the Browns need to move on. Others, however, say pump the brakes that Cole has not yet made a decision:

That is very interesting. Cole, unlike most street free agents, is able to sign right now. Others have to wait until 4PM, so they “haven’t decided yet” is generally a wink, wink, nudge, nudge kind of thing. Not so much with Cole.

The Browns are likely one of those teams still involved. Perhaps Cole is using Indy to push the cost up on the Browns or vice versa. Head Coach Mike Pettine’s comments bout Cole yesterday sure seemed like a player they wanted. Perhaps those comments helped Cole’s leverage.

Gonna be a crazy few hours.
