The Cleveland Browns always seem to be linked to several quarterbacks every draft season, and this draft season is no different. The latest quarterback to be linked to the Browns is Colorado State’s Garrett Grayson. Grayson emerged as one of the Mountain West’s biggest stars, starting all 14 games in 2013, completing 62.1 percent of his passes for 3,696 yards and 23 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. Grayson threw 32 touchdowns during the 2014 season and was named the conference’s Player of the Year and earned invitations to the East-West Shrine Game and Senior Bowl.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer: The Browns have worked out Colorado State QB Garrett Grayson privately at the school.
At 6’2”, 220 pounds, Grayson was one of four quarterbacks last season to pass for 4,000 yards, to go with 32 touchdown passes and seven interceptions. Grayson played under new Florida head coach Jim McElwain the past three years and leaves the Rams as the program’s owner of every significant career passing record, including yardage, touchdowns and completion percentage. Grayson is rarely mentioned among the top quarterback prospects but his vision, pocket mobility and accuracy are intriguing. If impressive in interviews, all-star games and workouts, Grayson could enjoy a steady rise as the draft approaches. The 2015 NFL Draft has a consensus top two in the quarterback department and after that it’s up in the air who the third quarterback is. Grayson is a name being thrown around and after a great display on his pro-day he is getting more attention. NFL Networks Daniel Jeremiah, is high on Grayson, and had him listed as his third overall QB in this class.
"“He has poise and sees the field, Can’t say that about many of the other contestants for the third spot. Something to build on.” – Daniel Jeremiah"

Although the Browns have the trade ammunition to move around (Up/Down) to acquire a player like Grayson, it would make more sense to stay put and get the best players available and fill needs on the roster. There is a great chance that the Browns have a shot to land a top flight receiver Amari Cooper, Kevin White or DeVante Parker with the 12th overall pick, and of course they could land an impact defensive player in the 12 to 19 range like Washington’s Danny Shelton. The Browns organization is doing its due diligence until the quarterback position is locked in for the long-term, and until then they will actively evaluate every talent on the board. Grayson is an intrigue prospect and many liken him to Miami’s Ryan Tannehill, if the Browns could grab a player like Grayson in the 2nd round and still capitalize on their two picks in the first, I would be happy with that outcome.
