2015 NFL Draft: Cleveland Browns 1st Round Picks from 1999 to 2007
2006: LB Kamerion Wimbley (13th overall)
Kamerion Wimbley was the Browns’ first round pick in 2006. He was drafted out of Florida State University and spent four seasons with the Browns.
Wimbley, a defensive end that was moved to the linebacker position, made an immediate impact on the Browns’ defense. He led the team and all AFC rookies with 11 sacks in his first season. He also recorded 62 tackles that year, starting in all 16 games for the Browns. He never reached those numbers again, but came close in his last season with the Browns in 2009, as he recorded 69 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
In 2010, Wimbley was traded to the Oakland Raiders for a third round pick in the 2010 draft. The pick turned out to be quarterback Colt McCoy.
After playing for the Raiders for two seasons, Wimbley has spent the past three years with Tennessee.
