1. Secondary Continues to Excel
The two teams who played in Super Bowl XLIX, were also the teams with the best secondaries in football. Of course, the New England Patriots have Tom Brady, and the Seattle Seahawks have Russell Wilson, but there’s no question their defensive backs had a lot to do with their spot in the big game.

If the Browns have one thing going for them, it’s their secondary. loaded with skill and even more potential waiting in the wings. In fact, they have so much depth that last year’s first-round pick, Justin Gilbert, is lost in the depth chart, and I’m not sure anyone even cares.
With Joe Haden and Tramon Williams leading the way on the outside, Tashaun Gipson and Donte Whitner roaming the middle of the field, and younger contributors like Pierre Desir and K’Waun Williams, this group is as deep as they come. Last season, they ranked first in the league in opposing quarterback rating and completion percentage against, not to mention the second most interceptions.
In a league where no huddle, west coast offenses are everywhere, you must be able to have success in the defensive backfield. With what looks like a better run defense, this group should only get better, especially with the younger players receiving more experience.
Putting all of these components together, could give the Browns a realistic shot at a playoff birth. It will be fun to see how this thing unfolds throughout the course of the year.
