1. Dwight Freeney
For years, Dwight Freeney was a menace to opposing quarterbacks. Racking up seven double-digit sack seasons, seven Pro Bowl selections, and three first-team All-Pro’s. The last two seasons for the 35-year-old pass-rusher, have not garnered big numbers, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t add value.

After losing Barkevious Mingo for what looks like a month, adding a proven veteran at outside linebacker isn’t a bad idea. Especially, with the inexperienced Nate Orchard, and the underwhelming, Dan Solomon, at the position.
Freeney was never known as big run-stuffer, but that’s not a bad thing. Although his skills to cover backs and receivers is what might have cost him some playing time last season, he still provides the tools of a skilled pass-rusher.

At this stage in his career, he isn’t an every-down player, but I think that perfectly fits the Browns current situation. This allows a guy like Nate Orchard to rotate in and out, and slowly work his way into positive NFL snaps.
I’m not saying the Freeney signing will happen, but at this point in his career, his cost isn’t very high. Being that he’s a good locker room presence, I don’t see the downside.
