What’s great about the media these days, are the constant stream of stories that cause controversy day in and day out. One day a story could be blown up into epic proportions, and the next day it’s almost like it never even happen.

Remember the Ebola virus? Last year, when a couple of Americans were stricken with the disease, it almost seemed like the world was going to end.
Where’s that story now?
As serious as Ebola seemed to be to Americans, Deflategate has had a similar feeling. In all reality, both stories have been completely blown out of proportion.
Deflategate has turned into the most talked about story over the course of the offseason, and it really shouldn’t have.
Once Tom Brady hits the field, or for that matter, the first game is played, who is going to care about Deflategate besides some bitter Pats fans? But, before the story takes a bow and heads off into the sunset, we still have some players who are willing to comment on it.
Enter, Joe Thomas.
"“I would equate what Tom Brady did to driving 66 mph in a 65 speed zone, and getting the death penalty,” Thomas said after practice sunday. “I’m not sure if he realizes what he’s doing is brilliant, but what he’s doing is brilliant because he’s made the NFL relevant 365 days by having these outrageous, ridiculous witch hunts,” said Thomas."
So, Mr. Thomas had no issue telling the world how he feels on the Deflategate issue, and I think just about everyone can at least partially agree with his comments.
I can personally say, that even going back to high school, some of the smartest kids were the one’s that looked for an advantage (a nice way of saying someone cheated). Am I condoning it? No, but that’s just a part of life. Not everyone who’s had success has looked for an advantage, but many have stepped outside the boundaries to do so based on pressure and high expectations.
Deflategate brought an enormous amount of press to a time of the year when football wasn’t at the forefront of the sports world. More pub, means more money. Business-wise, it’s genius. Of course it’s tedious and annoying as a spectator, but everything revolves around money.
The NFL can now tuck good ol’ Deflategate to bed for now, as they get ready to own the next six months in sports. I think we can all agree, Joe Thomas is spot on with his latest comments.
