The Cleveland Browns travel to Chicago to take on the Bears tonight in the final preseason friendly game for each team.

While the starters, most notably quarterback Josh McCown, are not expected to play tonight, that doesn’t mean there is no reason to watch the game.

Since the Browns will only be keeping two quarterbacks on the roster, tonight will be a final chance for Thad Lewis to showcase what he can do for another team, and for Pat Devlin to possibly earn a spot on the practice squad for the Browns or another team.

The game against the Bears also represents the last chance for wide receiver Terrelle Pryor to actually show what he can do, rather than just hearing people talk about all the things he can allegedly do on a football field.

There are also four or five roster spots that are still open, according to head coach Mike Pettine.

Josh Lenz is a guy that jumps out there,” Pettine told the team’s website. “E.J. Bibbs will get another opportunity to play. He and Rob Housler will get some pretty good reps. Some of those young offensive lineman, Darrian MillerAndrew McDonaldVinston Painter, big Erle Ladson and Karim Barton – there’s not much difference between all of them. A game like this can certainly separate them.

“Defensively, you look at Landon Feichter who’s been making plays. (De’Ante) Pop Saunders hasn’t had a chance to play a lot. Dylan Wynn is another guy, we haven’t done him a favor – we’ve had to play him out of position. This is a good night for him to get a lot of reps. Jacobbi McDaniel is a guy that’s proven he belongs at this level.”

Interesting that Pettine did not mention Pryor as someone who is still in consideration for a roster spot.
