The Cleveland Browns will be looking to break one of the NFL’s less than glamorous streaks when they open the 2015 NFL season today against the New York Jets.

The Browns have not won on opening day since 2004 and are just 1-14 in openers since returning to the NFL in 1999.

On offense, Cleveland has a new quarterback in Josh McCown, a talented offensive line and what the team hopes is a powerful running attack.

Defensively, the Browns boast one of the best secondaries in the NFL, and a rebuilt defensive line that, the team really hopes, will help the defense make a major improvement over last seasons unit, which finished last in the NFL in rushing defense.

“I am really, really excited about the season,” cornerback Joe Haden said last week. “Just excited to get out there and play this season. I know what our defense has. I know what people don’t think our offense has, but hopefully, when you are out there on Sundays, you can finally get a chance to show what all that talking, what you are going to have and what it is going to look. It is time to finally play and see what we can do.”

The Browns also announced that the following players will be inactive for today’s game: quarterback Austin Davis, cornerback Justin Gilbert, running back Robert Turbin, linebacker Nate Orchard, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, tight end E.J. Bibbs ad defensive lineman Xavier Cooper.
