The Cleveland Browns host the Oakland Raiders on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium in a renewal of a rivalry based on streaks.
The two franchises first met in the 1970 season following the merger between the NFL and AFL. The Raiders won that first game, the beginning of a streak that saw them win 10 of the first 11 meetings against the Browns – including seven in a row from 1974 to 1986.
But once the Browns finally broke that streak in 1987, they would go on to win nine of the last 12 games between the two, including three of the last four meetings.
The Browns and the Raiders have also met twice in the playoffs (more on that in a bit), with Oakland taking both games.
Both teams come into Sunday’s game off exciting wins, with the Browns taking down Tennessee, while Oakland beat Baltimore on a last-minute touchdown pass.
The Silver and Black will also bring with them a visual reminder of why you should never, ever, mess with an iconic uniform.
Join us on a trip in the WABAC machine and take a look at the five best games of all-time between the two franchises. As always, a big tip of the hat to Jonathan Knight’s The Browns Bible for being a great resource.
