Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown injured his right hand during Sunday’s loss to the Oakland Raiders, but a post-game X-ray revealed no damage, according to ESPN.
McCown reportedly injured his right hand at some point during the game when it apparently hit a helmet. The ESPN story sited “two sources close to the team” as saying that the X-rays did not reveal any serious damage.
The veteran quarterback confirmed that he had an X-ray after the game, but would not elaborate.
“I did. I don’t want to speak on it. I’ll let coach (Mike Pettine) speak on it, but I feel good,” McCown said. “Just normal bumps and bruises. Nothing too serious.”
On the day McCown was 28-of-49 for 341 yards and two touchdown passes. He also threw a game-ending interception and was sacked five times by an Oakland defense that came into the game with zero sacks.
Despite being beaten up during the game, McCown wasn’t in the mood to point fingers.

“I felt like (the protection) was pretty good. There were some times, you know, you get into a throwing situation and guys like Aldon Smith and Khalil Mack on the outside and you get into a situation where they know you’re throwing, those guys are really good players and so to sit back and say they’re not going to win one of those,” McCown said. “You throw it 46 times and you’ve got those guys on the edges? They’re probably going to get a win here and there.
“I thought our guys fought hard. Our offensive line fought hard. I don’t think that’s any kind of issue because I feel like our guys fought hard. Again, you get the throw number up there, that’s a hard job for those guys. By and large, they did a great job.”
Pettine should have more on McCown’s situation at his Monday press conference.
