The big news of the day is the return of quarterback Josh McCown to the starting lineup in place of Johnny Manziel.
“If you have two guys to pick from and you have that question, it is a positive,” wide receiver Brian Hartline said of the decision. “Both guys showed that they can win in this league, and they think Josh is the guy for Sunday. I am fully supportive of anything that they choose, and that is the reason why I am here.”
But what about that portion of the fan base that wants McCown to fail to prove that Manziel should be the starter?
“I think the fans’ reaction always comes down to whether you win or lose,” left tackle Joe Thomas said. “If we win on Sunday with Josh, they’re going to love Josh. If we don’t win, they’re going to love Johnny. It’s just a matter of if you go out and you execute and you play well and you win.”
The Browns also announced that the following players will be inactive for today’s game: quarterback Austin Davis, running back Robert Turbin, defensive back K’Waun Williams, linebacker Scott Solomon, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, tight end E.J. Bibbs, defensive lineman Desmond Bryant.
