Cleveland Browns:
Browns run defense remains a liability:
"Well, here we are heading into Week 4, and the run defense only seems to get worse as time goes on. This is when I shudder at the fact that the Browns have only played three games and I am writing this."
Browns sign QB Austin Davis to a contract extension:
"The Cleveland Browns have reportedly signed third-string quarterback Austin Davis to a two-year contract extension. The deal, which was first reported by ESPN’s Field Yates, is worth $4.137 million, which includes a $500,000 signing bonus and $600,000 in total guarantees."
Josh McCown not wasting time with TMZ report (NEOMG):
"Browns quarterback Josh McCown made light of the TMZ report that three anonymous Browns players are furious that Johnny Manziel is on the bench."
Travis Benjamin not happy with TMZ report (92.3 The Fan):
"Browns receiver Travis Benjamin was not happy Tuesday when he saw a report from TMZ that said there was a divide in the Browns locker room as to who the starting quarterback should be."
"First, do no harm. That is the directive doctors are given, but it applies to many other areas of life such as “branding.” It’s acutely important when the brand is iconic like a soft drink company, an automobile manufacturer, or a storied football program. What do the above examples all have in common? Some marketing people got it into their head that their iconic brand was becoming stale. Truth, sometimes a brand needs to update to changing consumer tastes. But the majority of the time, the brand is suffering from self-inflicted wounds of simply not maintaining its core product."
NFL News:
Andrew Luck limited in practice (Horseshoe Heroes):
"Coach Chuck Pagano said on Wednesday that Andrew Luck was limited in practice with a right shoulder injury. Pagano stated that Luck had soreness in the shoulder and is listed as day-to-day while the team errs on the side of caution with the franchise quarterback."
It’s hard to replace Antonio Gates (Bolt Beat):
"The San Diego Chargers are struggling badly offensively because Philip Rivers loves using his tight end, Antonio Gates, as a safety valve on obvious passing downs. The offense will continue to struggle until Rivers finds that new security blanket. The coaching staff is finding that it’s not easy to replace an icon."
What is the confidence level in Michael Vick? (Still Curtain):
"The Steelers players are saying all of the right things when it comes to Michael Vick stepping in for the injured Ben Roethlisberger tonight against the Baltimore Ravens. Fans, on the other hand, as we know are an entirely different story."
