Cleveland Browns:
5 takeaways from the Browns loss to the Rams
"That loss was uglier than … The Cleveland Browns fell into an early 10-0 deficit against the St. Louis Rams en route to an embarrassing 24-6 final score. Before a long rant breaks out, let’s look at five takeaways from Sunday’s loss."
Browns drop winnable game to the Rams
"It was a day like so many before it for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. The defense played well – at least until they started giving up big plays. The offense struggled and when they did get something going they were done in by penalties. In the end the Browns let yet another winnable game get away from as they fell to the Rams at the Edward James Dome, 24-6."
Is the Browns defense simply too complicated?
"Everyone who has watched the Cleveland Browns play defense this year knows the team has issues, especially when it comes to stopping the run. There have been several theories and explanations presented as to why, after investing so much money and effort into the defense, that things are still a mess for a defense that is ranked 31st overall. But could it be as simple as the coaching staff is making things too complicated?"
Beginning of the end for Isaiah Crowell? (NFL Spin Zone)
"The writing may be on the wall for Isaiah Crowell. In the turnover, penalty filled offensive disaster that was the Cleveland Browns against the St. Louis Rams, the Browns were relatively even in how they split up their running back touches. As long as their running backs stay healthy, that is probably going to change and while they will not completely phase out Crowell, they may reduce his workload."
Johnny Manziel eyes preparation and investigation (ESPN)
"It seems highly likely that Johnny Manziel will be preparing to start next Sunday’s game for the Cleveland Browns against the Arizona Cardinals. He also will soon be interviewed by the league’s investigators checking into what happened on Oct. 12 in Avon, Ohio. So the Browns will have a quarterback preparing to start also being interviewed about his behavior."
Browns in big trouble after being beaten physically and emotionally (The Plain Dealer)
"Josh McCown sounded like a man trying to talk with a swollen jaw. That’s because the Browns quarterback was belted in the jaw as he was knocked to the artificial turf. He also banged his right elbow into a wall. His right shoulder is a problem, too."
NFL News:
Torn Achilles ends season for Arian Foster (Toro Times)
"Running back Arian Foster was in the game when he shouldn’t have been, and it proved costly. The Miami Dolphins jumped to a 35-0 lead and in the fourth quarter with the game put away Foster dropped to the ground while running a route at the goal line. The non-contact injury looked bad and the star running back was carted off the field. The team quickly feared a torn Achilles was injury and SI.com is saying that is exactly what has happened to Foster."
Bears hint at looming purge of older players (NFL Mocks)
"Unlike some other teams in the league of late, not every GM prefers to do everything in one fell swoop. They prefer to make it process, figuring out who deserves to stay on the roster before simply casting players off like drained batteries. However, based on a growing trend of late surrounding the Chicago Bears, it’s becoming clear that Ryan Pace is purging the older players on his roster."
Jim Irsay and Ryan Grigson reportedly have heated conversation after Colts loss (Horseshoe Heroes)
"According to the Indianapolis Star’s Zak Keefer, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay and general manager Ryan Grigson apparently had a ‘heated conversation’ following the team’s 27-21 loss to the New Orleans Saints."
Loss shows Cowboys hopeless at quarterback (Dallas News)
"The Cowboys are in trouble. Trying to stay afloat until Tony Romo and Dez Bryant return, Dallas blew a great opportunity Sunday against a division rival that allowed them to hang around."
