Cleveland Browns:

Browns in the midst of another losing season

"The Cleveland Browns, an NFL team beloved and hated by so many, failed to score a touchdown in a game against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. The 24-6 loss dropped the Browns to 2-5. Hey, at least the Baltimore Ravens are 1-5 am I right? But the defeat did more than just add another number to the loss column. It signaled an early end to another season in Cleveland."

Did anyone play well on Sunday?

"The Cleveland Browns dropped a game on Sunday to the St. Louis Rams in a disappointing and dispiriting fashion. It’s not so much that the Browns lost – that is what they do, after all – but the way they went about doing it. Even though Cleveland came into the game having lost three of their past four games, all those games were close, giving fans the illusion that the Browns could walk off the field on the right side of the scoreboard."

Cleveland Browns: Josh McCown to start if healthy

"Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown took a beating on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, taking four sacks and numerous other hits before leaving the game with an injured shoulder. But if McCown shows he is OK, he will take the field as the starter when the Browns host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium."

Browns gearing up for Johnny Manziel’s possible NFL discipline and start all at the same time (NEOMG)

"The Browns are gearing up for Johnny Manziel’s possible NFL discipline and start all at the same time this week. The NFL has scheduled a meeting with Manziel regarding his Oct. 12 domestic incident, and that meeting could possibly take place on Tuesday, the club’s off day."

Cleveland Browns Week 7 winners and losers (WFNY)

"There’s a certain level of embarrassment involved when you know exactly how a team plans on attacking you and you simply stand by, arms crossed, and watch it all unfold. On Sunday, The St. Louis Rams opened their doors, invited the Browns in, and effectively gave them their playbook, daring them to stop them. Everyone knew that they were going to run the ball with ferocity and play sound, relentless defense—no different than the style of play Cleveland thought they would be able to have. When the whistle blew and the first kickoff was in the air, play for play, blow for blow, the Rams executed exactly what they had set out to do."

NFL News:

Ryan Mallett release vetoed by Texans general manager (FanSided)

"Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett put himself in hot water last weekend since he missed the Texans’ team flight to Miami. Mallett was forced to take a separate commercial flight on Saturday. The Texans subsequently lost, 44-26, in a blowout against the Miami Dolphins. Texans head coach Bill O’Brien was understandably furious with the Texans backup quarterback, but Mallett claimed that he was stuck in traffic on the way to the airport. O’Brien was so angry that he tried to cut Mallett from the Texans, but Sports Illustrated reports that Texans general manager Rick Smith overruled his attempt to release Mallett."

Hardy didn’t participate in Cowboys practice last week (NFL.com)

"Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy found the spotlight for his aggressive sideline behavior in Sunday’s loss to the Giants. Three days earlier, Hardy was on his team’s radar for other reasons.NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Monday’s edition of Around The NFL that Hardy did not participate in practice on Thursday morning and failed to reach out to the team, prompting Cowboys officials to make a series of calls to find out why their defensive end was not at the team facility."

Noted attorney Paul Clement hired by NFL to appeal Tom Brady decision (ESPN.com)

"The NFL has hired one of the nation’s most successful appellate attorneys to fight the court decision that reversed New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for Deflategate. Paul Clement, who has argued more U.S. Supreme Court cases than any other lawyer, filed papers on behalf of the NFL on Monday in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York. Clement, who also defended the NFL in the class-action concussion lawsuit, has argued in the nation’s highest court against Obamacare and in support of the Defense of Marriage Act, among other cases."
