The Tennessee Titans released former Cleveland Browns running back Terrance West on Saturday, costing the Browns a conditional seventh-round draft pick.
Cleveland traded the former third-round draft pick to the Titans prior to the start of the season, but West gained 51 yards while with Tennessee, and because he only appeared in two games the Browns will receive no compensation.
West’s last appearance with the Titans game in Week 2 against the Browns, when he ran three times for 10 yards and lost his second fumble of the season.
The second-year running back appeared to be a draft day steal for the Browns as a rookie, rushing for 673 yards and four touchdowns in 2014. He had his best day as a pro in the season opener against Pittsburgh as he ripped the Steeler defense for 100 yards and averaged 6.25 yards per carry.

West did not break the 100-yard mark the rest of the season, although he did gain 94 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8 and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16.
West reportedly had maturity issues while with the Browns, he did not play in two games because the coaches did not like his practice habits, leading him to vow in the off-season that 2015 would be a different story.
That was not the case, however, leading the Browns to send West to the Titans.
“Terrance has had, it’s been well documented, his ups and downs,” head coach Mike Pettine said at the time of the trade. “He has flashes of brilliance and other times when he gets a minus on a grade sheet, and that’s always been one of the issues we’ve had with him. We know he can do it. It’s got to be on a more consistent basis.”
You have to wonder if there is another team willing to give West a shot or if this is the end of his NFL career.
