Cleveland Browns:
Did Joe Thomas ask the Cleveland Browns to trade him?
"Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas gave the front office the green light to make a trade at last week’s NFL trading deadline, according to a published report. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, citing the ever-popular unnamed sources, Tweeted this morning that Thomas gave general manager Ray Farmer the green light to make a deal."
Cleveland Browns lose conditional draft pick in Terrance West trade
"The Tennessee Titans released former Cleveland Browns running back Terrance West on Saturday, costing the Browns a conditional seventh-round draft pick. Cleveland traded the former third-round draft pick to the Titans prior to the start of the season, but West gained 51 yards while with Tennessee, and because he only appeared in two games the Browns will receive no compensation. West’s last appearance with the Titans game in Week 2 against the Browns, when he ran three times for 10 yards and lost his second fumble of the season."
Cleveland Browns failures mount in all areas
"The Cleveland Browns find themselves in familiar territory as they again struggle through an NFL season with very few wins and fewer answers. Questions regarding players, coaches, the general manager and virtually every other aspect of Browns football is up for debate. There is a cornucopia of mystery injuries, evasive answers from Mike Pettine and Ray Farmer, controversy at quarterback, a $9 million wide receiver who can hardly get on the field, and several other issues facing the Browns and their fans."
Joe Thomas’ agent shoots down report that Thomas asked to explore trade (NEOMG)
"Browns left tackle Joe Thomas’ agent Sunday called a report that Thomas asked the Browns to explore a trade “a complete fabrication.” He also said it’s “100% false” that the deal with Denver broke down because the Broncos refused to guarantee Thomas’ salaries in 2016 and 2017."
Brian Billick thinks the Cleveland Browns should keep Mike Pettine (WFNY)
"Stop the insanity! I’m dating myself when I reference Susan Powter in a post on a sports website, because 1994 was a really long time ago, but it’s appropriate because that’s the advice former Baltimore Ravens coach and current NFL Network employee Brian Billick has for Jimmy Haslam and the Cleveland Browns. Stop the insanity of constant turnover and keep Mike Pettine and Ray Farmer in their positions."
NFL News:
Browner directs profanity-laced tirade at reporter (NFL.com)
"Brandon Browner’s nightmare season in New Orleans continued on the field Sunday, and then got even worse in the locker room after the game. Browner directed a profanity-laced tirade at reporters after the Saints’ overtime loss, primarily WWL-TV reporter Lyons Yellin, according to The Times-Picayune. Browner was upset that Yellin and other reporters were asking Saints safety Jairus Byrd about a first half play where Byrd and cornerback Keenan Lewis collided while going for an interception, causing the ball to pop into Delanie Walker’s hands for an eventual touchdown."
Cam Newtown reported for theft by Packers fan for sign incident (FanSided)
"Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton continues to play at his highest level, and he helped lead the Panthers to a hard-fought win over the Green Bay Packers at home. The Panthers improved their record to 8-0, and Newton showed his loyalty to the Panthers by taking down a sign that said “North Carolina Cheesehead.” The Panthers quarterback, because of this, is now being reported for theft."
Former teammates, coaches leave a murky picture of just ‘Who is Greg Hardy’ (USA Today)
"There’s a wall around Greg Hardy. The wall isn’t literal. It’s a shield. And it’s there to block out his past. Like Ray Rice before him, Hardy has suddenly become the face of domestic violence in the NFL after Deadspin published photos, police interview transcripts and documents in a detailed report of Hardy’s alleged assault of ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder on May 12, 2014. The evidence is disturbing. And it brings up the question many had forgotten since Hardy signed with the Dallas Cowboys this offseason and became, once again, one of the league’s top pass rushers."
